Praia do Paraíso is located right infront of a oil refinery just a few minutes drive north from the harbour in Matosinhos. Every day during low tide both professionals and amateurs come here to hunt from the cliffs, mostly for octopus, barnacles, or bait for rod fishing. It's a tough job. Even in the summer the ocean is freezing. The powerful waves are constantly breaking agaist the cliffs that are covered in tiny mussels and slippery seaweed which makes them very hard to manoeuvre. I spent a few mornings together with some regulars of Praia do Paraíso, photographing their traditional methods of fishing.
